life lately

swatch time!

Very Cranberry by Essie. About this colour ⎯ it's a deep opaque cranberry or a blue-based red. I'm wearing two coats. I imagined it would come out a little pinker than it actually is, but I'm not complaining. There are a lot of red colors out there and a good chunk of them can be an annoying shade of red. This isn't the case with this polish. Definitely a keeper. I originally bought it from Target and never used it and it was just sitting in my polish box, but I felt like it was about time for some red.

burning bush supper club

"I'm so excited!" should probably be the phrase of the day. We had our first "lab" day today, which meant having a lab orientation for an hour and then being let out super early. Last night I burned 5 CDs ⎯ two Cudi albums, two Bon Iver albums, and one Kanye album ⎯ for Marylou, Beverly, and Ben respectively. I think it's safe to say that giving music to other people is on my list of favorite things to do. And speaking of music, I finally got my hands on the new Bear Hands album! Case in point, SUPER EXCITED.

Never have I seen so many cute little Asian goods packed into one store! Basically everything in the store was $2 unless marked otherwise. I ended up getting myself a cream-coloured (typical) bento box, a tiny fork for my bento, and an insanely cute floral mug (see below). Marylou, Anna and I went to go get lunch afterwards at a sandwich place. I ended up knitting for Anna a bit.

(Seriously good coffee)

I did Marylou's nails last night. Pretty sure I'm going to end up doing this on myself again very soon.

My textbooks came in the mail today! Thank goodness for overnight shipping, seriously. I don't know what I'd do with myself if I had to wait to read another day.

Tried out the newspaper nails last night right on top of Essie's Eternal Optimist. It ended up showing a little fainter than I expected, but I did wash my hands before I put on a topcoat. Oh well.

I don't mean to sound toolish, but I really am loving life so much lately. I feel so much more complete with school underway. And trying to really appreciate everything in my life is really making me realize how great it is. I'm cherishing it.

say hello

This little baby used to be my mom's. She got it in Paris a few years ago and now that she doesn't use it anymore, she's passed it on to me! No complaints here. A little fact: I bought my first Louis Vuitton piece (a key holder) at a garage sale when I was 8, along with a wind-up musical unicorn. Mmmyeah.

swatch time!

Okay, let's talk about this nail polish for a bit. First of all, it's Essie's Eternal Optimist. It's a light, muted, neutral rose-salmon. I was looking around Ulta for some nail polish the other day and I was kind of torn between this one and Lapis of Luxury, which came out during the 2010 Resort collection, but ultimately I ended up choosing this one because of the name. I feel like I'm an eternal optimist most of the time.

This color may show up super well in pictures, but I just don't feel like it's doing it for me in real life. They look too similar to the color of my fingertips. Or something. I'm pretty set on returning it. Oh well. I don't know what color I'm looking for. For the fate of these painted nails however, I think tomorrow night I'll end up doing the hyped-up newspaper nails that everyone's been excited about lately.

stupid pricey shit

ecote rucksack

After what seemed like endless waiting, the Ecote Rucksack is finally mine to cherish! I thought I was going to have to save up for it and buy it on my own, but as a gift, my mom actually ended up getting it for me. She said "but you're almost done with school!" Four semesters to go? Hardly. It's still hard to believe that in exactly one year, I'll be starting my last semester of nursing school. It seems like my life revolves around school, but it's exactly that. And I like it that way. I feel like I'll be a perpetual student until I get my DNP. (Which is okay) I just want a lot out of life and a lot out of my education. I don't think that's so wrong. Use 'em if you got 'em, right?

I've gotten some new notebooks, new writing utensils, some flashcards, and a new clipboard and I think I'm all set. I've always loved the beginnings of things. I'm excited.

On the other hand, I've been thinking almost endlessly about life and just being happy with what you have. The other day I watched Louis C.K.'s Hilarious and I'm glad that we do get it, enough to make some humor out of it. I think we just forget how lucky we are to have such good lives. No matter what emotional turmoil or whatever we're in, just remember that we're privileged to have clean water to drink and a roof over our heads. There are just some problems that really aren't problems at all. Not meaning to quote Sheryl Crow, but it's definitely about wanting what you've got. I think I've found something to work on for 2011.

Hope this semester treats everyone well.

berripop

Wilbur called and woke me up to have lunch with him and Anthony on Monday.

We had La Madeleine for lunch, and then went to Berripop for froyo. Froyo in 40-degree weather! Obviously geniuses.

Always got my eye on the blueberries.
